Young people and young adult ministry

As a province, we acknowledge the importance of having a dedicated engagement with young people and young adults. We value their energy and gifts, their joys and challenges, and recognise the unique experiences and voices that they bring. Arising from our charism, and in meaningful and relevant ways, we seek to accompany, listen and work alongside young people and those who support them to transform and build a better society.

Exploring Carmel

Do you find yourself asking these questions:
Where am I heading in life?
How can I best use my gifts?
What is occupying my heart and mind?

Our new programme has been designed for young adults aged 18 -35. The aim is to foster personal and spiritual growth and to provide an experience and understanding of our Carmelite Charism. We want to encourage and support people in considering their unique calling and empower individuals to be proactive in the positive impact they can make in their everyday lives. Our hope is to develop a network of support and provide a sense of community and belonging.

The course content should provoke challenge for all and provide an opportunity for spiritual growth drawing on the beauty of our Carmelite story.

The course will be run monthly on ‘Zoom’ from September 2024 – more details and registration here.

Retreat resources ‘The Friars’ Aylesford

Each year, many individuals and groups visit Aylesford Priory. We are always pleased to welcome and offer hospitality to all people. The site is significant because of the Shrine and the Carmelite community who live and work at ‘The Friars’. Many visitors come to find peace, a space for prayer, and reflection away from their regular routine.

We have produced pilgrimage themed resources to support visiting groups. These resources have been prepared in collaboration with the Carmelite community, teachers, chaplains, and youth workers. As with any resource, you can adapt the material to the needs of your group. The secondary material works well with older groups.

The materials are in a pdf format and can be viewed on a tablet
