From 2nd to 6th July 2023 at The Friars, Aylesford Kent, we will be undertaking a series of unique events that celebrate the gifts of creative people who experience disability as well as sharing in the wisdom of Carmelite Saint Therese Benedict of the Cross (Edith Stein). This will be one of the first international events of its kind, introducing new areas of study including issues surrounding disability.
The programme has been developed by several organisation and individual expects who explore theology through the lens of disability. The aim has been to develop practical ways of ensuring all people can participate in the life and mission of the Church.
Over the two events we will focus on Saint Therese Benedict of the Cross: Edith Stein, she has provided significant influence and important inspiration for our central themes and material. Devoting her life to search for truth. Jewess, teacher, daughter, sister, aunt, nurse, academic, prolific writer; all of these experiences formed and inspired her within such a search. It was, however, in her experience of entering Carmel as a nun that all of her thoughts regarding the value of the human person came into harmony and empathy with God.

Event 1 (02 July 2023) Day of Celebration sharing in the gifts of people who experience disability, at Aylesford Priory Kent
This Day of Celebration would be a perfect moment for a parish pilgrimage, discovering the gifts of symbolic catechesis and Liturgy… All are welcome.
Event 2 (04 July to 06 July 23) Three-day Conference: Dignitas Personae et Amor Dei: The Value of the Human Person and Divine Love; Meeting Edith Stein, at Edith Stein Centre (North Barn), Aylesford Priory:
