On Wednesday 6th December, the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle, Rt. Rev. Stephen Wright celebrated a Mass to welcome back the Carmelite Friars to the North East after an interlude of 484 years.
The Carmelites, Damian Cassidy and Paul Jenkins, are at the service of the Parishes of St John Vianney, St Cuthbert and St Mark’s in West Newcastle, where they will be involved in parish ministry and Carmelite outreach.
It was a wonderful celebration where the Prior Provincial, Brendan Grady, along with members of the Carmelite Family from around the country were warmly welcomed by the Parish Communities.
